Huge fire in a skyscraper in Dubai shortly before New Year

A large fire broke out in a skyscraper in the center of Dubai, near the place where you had to make a fireworks display by year-end.

"Suddenly we saw this huge plume of black smoke from the Khalifa Tower and Hotel" Duque said.

"The flames broke out widely and before we knew it all Addres Hotel was covered in orange flames."

To control the fire, Dubai police closed some roads and the subway.

Officials said at least 16 people were injured in the incident.

Another tourist told the BBC he saw a lot of debris falling from the building.

"The problem is that millions of people within the Burj Khalifa can not move because somehow we are waiting for the fireworks," he said.

The building where the fire occurred is located next to the famous Burj Khalifa, the tallest in the world.

The Address Downtown is located in a building with 63 floors and 302 meters high and is over to be evacuated, according to local media report.

It is known that the fire broke out on the 20th floor of the skyscraper.
